Previous Image Next Image Chris Larson Chris serves on the Boards of Directors for the San Diego chapters of the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association and American Diabetes Association, and on the early-career grants review committee of The Obesity Society. He is an advisor to the Harrington Discovery Institute, the Center for Molecule and Translational Medicine at the University of California-Riverside School of Medicine, and serves on several scientific advisory boards for biotechnology companies. He volunteers as a Big Brother for Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Diego County. Prior service includes teaching men’s health courses to the formerly homeless residents of the San Diego Rescue Mission, and serving as a mentor in the Biotechnology Industry Organization Minority Fellows Program. Chris’s lifetime vocational goal is to help create a novel medicine for a major unmet medical need that saves and extends healthy human lives, and help and lead others to do likewise. He works as Vice President, Drug Discovery, and Adjunct Associate Professor at the Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute. Prior to SBPMDI, Chris held research positions of increasing responsibility at several pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed scientific publications, reviews, book chapters, and patents; is an active peer reviewer for several journals; and has been an invited speaker at scientific & medical conferences. He holds a B.A. from Carleton College, obtained his Ph.D. in Chemistry from Harvard University, and completed postdoctoral training in molecular oncology at The Salk Institute for Biological Studies.
